TOMMY GUNAWAY, PRESIDENT

Program: PhD in Behavior, Cognition, & Neuroscience
Tommy Gunawan is pursuing a Ph.D. in Behavior, Cognition, and Neuroscience. He works in the Behavioral Pharmacology & Health Promotion Laboratory in the Department of Psychology, and his research focuses on drug addiction in humans, with an emphasis on cigarette smoking. Tommy also teaches undergraduate introductory Psychology Lab courses.
In addition to his service to the Graduate Leadership Council, Tommy is also the Graduate Student Representative in the Faculty Senate Committee on Diversity & Inclusion. As an undergraduate, Tommy served as the Vice President for the Student Government Association, and Secretary for the Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity.
Tommy moved to the United States from Indonesia, earning his Bachelor’s in Psychology from Chapman University, with a minor in Business Administration. When he is not teaching in a classroom or conducting research in his laboratory, you can find him exploring the city. He excited to meet and work with the graduate student community of CAS.
